- A half cup pearl barley (makes 1 cup cooked)
- 1 cup water
- Pinch of salt
How to cook easy and quick pearl barley:
Place barley in a saucepan. Add water and salt. Bring to the boil. Simmer covered for about 30 minutes. You can keep cooked barley in the fridge for 3-4 days and reheat in a saucepan or microwave as needed. Heat and serve with hot milk and a spoonful of honey as a breakfast cereal.

How to cook pearl barley soup
Put stock and barley into a large stock pot. Take to the boil and reduce heat. (Include chicken.) Simmer for 15 minutes then combine water, all veggies, parsley and bay leaf. Bring to the boil again. Simmer for about 20 minutes. (Shred chicken with tongs). Season with salt and pepper to taste. Spread using chopped parsley or dill just before serving.You may also like other recipes:
